Where you shop really does make a difference in your quality of life.
From supporting your neighbors to reducing your impact on the planet –
here are 10 GREAT reasons to Buy Local in Sherwood, Oregon.
(1) Keep money in our community: Did you know that for every $100 spent at locally owned businesses, about $68 returns to the community? Shopping local keeps your money recirculating right where you live. This is a great example of what goes around, comes around!
(2) Reduce environmental impact: When possible, it’s always better to drive less. Locally owned businesses are not only a convenience for consumers, they also make more local purchases themselves, which require less transportation. That's like a green friendly domino effect!
(3) Support community efforts: Non-profit organizations receive an average 250% more support from smaller locally owned business owners than they do from large businesses. THAT'S HUGE!!! We all know Sherwood, Oregon does it best! Just look at all the great support poured into community events, local school and sports programs :-)
(4) Get better service: It always feels so good to walk into a shop and be greeted by name. Not only that, the service is often customized to fit your needs - if you have an idea or request for something not offered in a shop in Sherwood, all you have to do is ask! They're all about taking care of their clients!
(5) Keep our community unique: Supporting our local shops and Old Town businesses is an important part of the distinctive character we love and appreciate about Sherwood, Oregon. Our community is unique because of the way residents connect and support each other. Without that we wouldn't be Sherwoodians!
(6) Invest in community: Local businesses are owned by people who live in and around the area. These are people who are invested in the community’s future. Some of our local shop owners have more invested here at the community level than the average homeowner! These shops truly are our neighbors. Supporting them is an investment in the future of our community and the place we all call home.
(7) Encourage local prosperity: By supporting our neighbors, we support ourselves. If our neighbor does well, we do well. (It's quite simple, if your neighbor’s home looks better and our neighborhood shops are thriving, it's pretty clear what that does for the value of your own home!)
(8) Save time: Shopping close to home saves you a ton of time. You can knock out several errands when you bank and shop local.
(9) Meet a neighbor: When you shop close to home, you see many familiar faces. Sometimes the only place you actually see your neighbors is when you’re at the grocery store or a community event. The more you’re out and about – the more you can stay connected the good old fashioned way!
(10) Feel good: When you shop local, it just makes you feel good. Knowing that you’ve helped a locally owned mom & pop with their business makes spending that money a little easier. Not only are we helping them, we're helping ourselves several times over when we support local!
